Can't Find Tweak UI?

December 24, 1998 — Numerous readers report that neither the PowerToys folder, nor the Tweak UI files described here are present on the Windows 98 CD-ROM disc that accompanied their PC. In still other cases, no CD-ROM disc is bundled with the PC, and although Windows 98 itself is installed, the hard disk lacks the Tweak UI files.

Such reports have been received from owners of Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, and some other computers purchased at various computer stores.

Unfortunately, I have no idea why this free utility is omitted on some systems, and neither Microsoft nor their Public Relations firm has responded to inquiries about this. However, a free download of the Tweak UI applet is now available at the Windows Magazine web site. After downloading Tweak UI from this site, follow the directions given here. — John Woram
